Review: Etude House Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam

Tuesday, 31 December 2013

For today I'd like to review about a cleansing foam that I've been dying to try since about 3 months ago but I couldn't as I was using another cleansing line from TheFaceShop so only today, as I ran out all of them i.e. my cleansing cream, morning cleanser, even my evening cleanser, I think it's time to unwrap this one and give it a go. :D

My Etude House Baking Powder Pore Cleansing line. These are all from my September Haul but I only used these a few times because I think it's better to use one cleansing line at a time, right?

The item that I'm going to review today is none other but this Etude House Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam

Beauty Haul | Skinfood

Sunday, 29 December 2013

At the beginning of this journey of using Korean beauty skincare products, I discovered Skinfood products quite late I guess, compared to TheFaceShop and Etude House. Plus, if I were to compare, Skinfood beauty stores aren't as many as TheFaceShop and Etude House both in my hometown and around the place that I'm currently living in.

But those things didn't stop me from going out of my usual places and discovered other new stores and hence, when I first tried the product and actually finish it quicker than other items on my vanity table, I realized, maybe I should give a chance to myself to explore more from this brand. Oh, I was talking about Skinfood Rice Wash-Off Mask, by the way.

Anyway, as per usual, I tried the samples given to me, ended up buying some miniature kits and finally fell in love with this one product that just suits my needs right now.

As I was looking for a serum or essence that can help me brighten up my skin tone, at the same time giving me the anti-aging properties that I need, I found Skinfood Black Sugar Perfect First Serum. About 3 weeks after I used up the miniature kit that I got, I decided to get the full size product and I gotta say, this is the first time I got myself a product that I've tried the samples, did a thorough research on it, gather testimonies from my favourite beauty bloggers, and of course I had consulted the experienced Beauty Advisers in Skinfood beauty stores itself. Oh, yes! I am indeed excited while getting this for myself and even happier when I found out that Skinfood was having promotion on this very product and I went ahead to get it the day after the promotion was announced in Skinfood Official Facebook page.

I got the Black Sugar Perfect First Serum with Cotton pads, Black Sugar Strawberry Wash-Off Mask, Black Sugar Perfect Mask Sheet and a headband. So lucky to be among the early birds who get the limited number of free mask sheets. Yay!

Beauty Haul | Etude House

If you've read my previous post, this is the second part of this end-of-the-year haul and these are the products I got from Etude House!

But first, look at these bags! They're so huge and I could use them to bring my architectural models in it! Loving them~ Now, let's get right into it!

Like I mentioned in my New Year Wishlist post, I wanted the Wonder Pore Christmas Set and the other stuffs are from the Buy 1 Free 1 promos.  I got the Wonder Pore Freshener, the Wonder Pore Whipping FoamingWonder Pore White Clay Clear Mask, the Cotton Glove, Brush and the Spatula to apply the mask. It serves a great purpose to keep things hygiene. There's a reason why I still grabbed 2 other 500ml Wonder Pore Freshener even though one is included in the Christmas Set... hehe Surprise! Surprise!

Beauty Haul | TheFaceShop

Hello again, peeps! It's the second post of the day and I'm going to share with you guys about the items that I got recently. First of all, the stuffs that I get for myself from my favourite brand, TheFaceShop!

I ran out of my TheFaceShop Rice Water Bright cleansing line and right now I'm using my Baking Powder cleansing line from Etude House and while shopping, I decided to get these as I was really curious about them. Again, these are all for my excess sebum! Really hope that these are gonna work well with my skin.

Review: Etude House I Need You, Yogurt! Wash-Off Masks: Apple

Hello, beautiful people! It's Sunday here in Malaysia and I woke up way earlier than usual cause of the wind keep hitting my door and it's more annoying than my alarm.

Anyway, as I already fully woke up, why not post a quickie, right? Plus, I just tried this like few minutes ago, so it's better to post now cause I'm too lazy to jot down what I think of this one and post later. hehe

As in the previous post, I tried the Apricot Pack so this time it's the Apple Pack! For details, descriptions on this wash-off mask, please go to my previous post here

"An Apple a day keeps the doctors away". That's what I learned since pre-school and I gotta say, apple is my favourite imported fruit. I love everything apple; from juice, to smoothies, to pies and most of all, apple rabbits. hehe
Click on image to learn how to cut the apple like this! :D
Apple extracts are known as ingredient in skincare that soften and brighten up our skin. Oh, do check out my review on TheFaceShop Real Nature Apple Flesh Pack to know more about other apple-based product that I have.

Coming back to this product, here it is!

Sagwa is Korean for Apple. Also means apologize. haha :D Suddenly recalled back some scenes in K-drama where apple is used to apologize to someone. Especially guys. LOL

Review: Etude House I Need You, Yogurt! Wash-Off Masks: Apricot

Saturday, 28 December 2013

Hello, lovelies! How's your weekend so far? For me, I'm still in my revision week so I guess you guys get the picture.

As I have been studying all day, I wanna get my mind off from exams just for a bit so here I am, releasing some steam off with trying this cute pack hence I'm gonna write a quick review. By the way, this is a continuation from my previous post here, so for today I'm going to review the Apricot Pack.

I honestly never ate an apricot before (or maybe I did but didn't know it's an apricot? LOL) so I didn't really know about it. So...

Of Final Exams and December Haul

Hello! Finally the weekend is here! There are few more days before the final exams gonna start but most of my friends including moi is in the holiday mood already. haha For me, it's only 10 days left before I'm flying home. Home as in my hometown in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. *the seafood is calling!!*

I just prepared a list of things I wanna do right after I get home as I'll be spending 4 days in Kuching, Sarawak for few days after I got home as Mom and is going to attend a Tupperware event yay! More new stuffs coming to my kitchen!!! of course beauty samples from BeautiControl (Tupperware skincare subsidiary company) and not forgetting the hotels we're gonna stay in! :D
In summary, I'm excited for that. Perfect getaway cause I definitely don't wanna go right into my dad's office being the temp worker, organizer, meeting boring clients, helping around with stuffs.

Wait, I thought I was gonna talk about my finals? LOL let me to just let you into my real life, okay? Just a lil' bit. I promise you it won't be that boring.

Basically, it's common for us in architecture department, who are mostly doing 6 to 7 year program, to have less than 4 final exams and that's because we have design studio which make up to a third of total credit hours sigh and architectural drawing lessons and instead of written exams, we need to submit design proposals, presentation boards, sketches, models, and sometimes artist impression where we get to do a little bit more to art rather than architecture itself. Talk about artworks and whatnot. For this semester, I only have 2 written exams. Which is awesome. I went for optional short semesters to be done with subjects like second languages and other religion-based studies. Ugh, now I feel bored talking about this stuff! haha :D Thing is, the reason I write this whole a lot of words in this post is because when I applied for Google AdSense, they said my blog is just full of photos and images and doesn't have enough contents. Sigh

Hence, this post. Oh, December Haul. :D now I have some interesting stuffs to talk about.

Like I mentioned above, I'm going home so it goes without saying that my girls i.e. younger cousins will be waiting for me at home, all excited to get their New Year Gifts, plus schools gonna start pretty much next week so I guess it's no harm buying some skincare stuffs for them to bring along to their dorms, right?

So this week, after my final presentation week ended, I went out and buy some stuffs for them and of course for myself and mum. I basically ran out most of skincare products, as it's been 3 months since I used my TheFaceShop Flebote White Crystal line (review soon!) and my Toner, Essence, and night Cream have finished so I was looking for a new line to get into.

A little teaser.

I bought some stuffs from TheFaceShop, Skin Food and Etude House. I guess you know why. My girls love Etude House. Me too, actually. Oh, well. you guys know that already.

Though I can't promise not to shop right after the exam on 31st, so...

Haul post will be up soon. I'm going to post this month's haul in parts because I can't just spend 4 hours straight on computers as I need to do some revision so let's take our time on updates, yeah?

Love you guys. Annyeong~

Review: Etude House I Need You, Yogurt! Wash-Off Masks

Thursday, 26 December 2013

Hello, beautiful people! Second post of the day! Oh, well. I'm taking a break from doing my revision (...or is that an excuse?? hehe) so here I am with another review! :D

In the previous post, I mentioned that I don't have the Aloe mask sheet, right? Funny thing is, mom called yesterday and thanked me for the Aloe mask sheets that I left at home and told me she was using it after she returned from fishing with my uncles. So... I guess you guys get the picture, right?

To continue the #masksheetmarathon challenge, I wanna make a twist over here and sum it up with this nice wash-off masks from the same I Need You! line. I know. I know. It's not a mask sheet but it's from the same line so I guess it's okay. LOL

As I have reviewed the Honey Wash-Off Masks before and as you guys might already know, this is the Yogurt version.

Beauty Empties | November

Saturday, 7 December 2013

Hello, beautiful people! Having a lovely weekend?

As I read a fellow beauty blogger +Jannatul Rahamoni post on her November Empties today, I was reluctant to post mine. But she tagged me! LOL Hence, here we are... On my November Empties post. :D

This is the first time I'm doing an Empties post so please bear with me, okay? Hehe :)

For me, I didn't emptied out much of stuffs because one, I live alone. In dormitories but we girls rarely share anything because we have different choice in products.

Pantene Pro-V Silky Smooth Care Shampoo and Conditioner. I didn't know what happened, though I used to use these two like 3 years ago, then I switched to Herbal Essence, then to Head & Shoulder and when I returned to these two, I had terrible dandruff! Maybe because I didn't wear scarf while I was using these two back then but I don't know. Maybe the formula is different now? Sigh. But I still went on and using them until finish and bought different brand.

Like I mentioned in my previous post, I've been using this line since about 10 years ago and only recently the packaging has changed! ...and I am still not sure whether to get the new ones or nor cause I bought other compact powders from another line (Maybelline Mineral Powder Foundation and TheFaceShop Oil Cute Pore Powder Pact) but yeah, since it's so affordable, why not? hehe shopaholic alert!

Basically, there are 3 items that I have from this Maybelline's Clear Smooth line.

When I see other bloggers hauls, I noticed that most of them post their monthly haul at the beginning of the month. But for me, like today, I'll be posting on stuffs that I bought throughout this month of November, so when I decided to do reviews on them, it means I have been using them for a quite period period of time, unless it's stated it is a first impression post.

Now let's get right into it!

Beauty Award: The Liebster Award

Thursday, 28 November 2013

Hello, beautiful people! Happy Thursday! It's almost the end of the week so I guess everyone's are excited to shop this weekend, right? Watch out for interesting promotions and shop wisely! :D

Yeah, I guess after reading the above title, it's no surprise right? Thanks to my dearest fellow beauty blogger, a friend, Joyce or her Google+ account name +Shen Ee , she nominated me the Liebster Award. Thanks so much for this, darls! I guess it's really nice to have something like this as a platform to get to know other beauty bloggers more and even discovered new ones!

Girls, do check out Joyce's beauty blog IntoFace and have fun while you're at it. I always enjoy reading reviews and picking up simple tips to follow from her. Plus, her blog just got re-vamped and I'm totally in love with the new layout. :D

Simple rules!
The Liebster Award is for those who have less than 200 followers on Bloglovin , this is a great opportunity for small and new blogs to find new readers and connect with everyone in the blogging community!

If I have nominated you, all you have to do is to accept the award, give me a follow-back via Bloglovin and Google Friend Connect (also Google+, Twitter @mieletvanille and Instagram @lemieletlavanille, do add me while you're at it) then answer a few questions!

When you nominate other bloggers, please make sure that you are following them and send them a message letting them know that you have done so.

The number of bloggers they're suggesting is 11.

******************

First of all, let me share the answers to Joyce's questions!

  1. What is your favorite cosmetic brand?
Ooh, hot question! It's not easy to choose one, I tell you! As for cosmetics, if I really need to choose, then it would be Mary Kay. Love their eye shadows! The right pigmentation, last long, and I love how they come on it's own so I can arrange them prettily inside my case.

As for skincare brand, I guess it's obvious. For the past 3 months, it's always have been THEFACESHOP. Hopefully I'll discover better product after this!
  2. If you could only bring one item with you to wherever you go, what would you bring?
One item? if we're still talking about cosmetics, it would be my compact powder.
If we're talking about skincare, it would be my Rice Water Bright Rice Bran Cleansing Foam. Period.

But if we're talking about in general, that would be my smartphone. Everything about me is in there. I guess the charger is included as one with my smartphone so yeah. Smartphone it is. :D
  3. How much do you spend on your cosmetic per month?
Well, I think most girls do this (or maybe I'm just nerdy LOL) but I keep my beauty product expenses on track, from Budget App in my iPhone to Excel spreadsheets. So, the average sum of money I spent on cosmetic products is roughly RM900 (USD300). But to my estimation, I'm still good for the next few months even without buying anything. Maybe it'll be lesser for the upcoming months. So yeah.
  4. When do you start using skincare?
The last week of August this year, but I was just trying out samples. As for my current skincare products, I started on 17th of September this year. Totally did marked that date down in my Molang diary. :D
  5. What is the most expensive cosmetic that you've used before?
The most expensive cosmetic I have used before? I have to say Mary Kay skincare line for normal-oily skin. Spent roughly about RM600 for few items. But I didn't see any remarkable result so after I went through the frustration, I switched to Garnier for the next 6 months before I changed to K-beauty skincare products and since then, I never look back!
  6. Which country do you wish to travel most?
    Japan.
  7. What do you do with your cosmetics if it's not suitable for you?
I never experienced this. Or maybe I did but I can't recall but I guess I'm lucky cause since I started using South Korean beauty products, all products that I have so far are working great with my skin. But as for the wrongly given samples by BAs to me, I'll use them to test new products I got for review purposes. Like doing reviews on cleansing products.
  8. What is your most favorite gift/present you've received before?
I honestly consider all great things in my life as gifts from God and for things like gadgets and whatnot, being given those things by my parents are something I couldn't describe of how grateful I am for that matter, but one thing that I consider as one of the best gift I have received is the amount of support shown by my followers, readers, and I sincerely hope we can prolong this I called as friendship.
Beauty is subjective and I really hope we all can be beautiful in a way that satisfy our desires, exude the inner beauty within us, and appreciate the knowledge shared among us.

  9. What's your wishlist for Christmas?
I don't celebrate Christmas but it's in my tradition that we celebrate new year (non-religion celebration), by just gathering with friends and family with good food and  talk about how was it in the previous year, sharing our new year resolutions, plans and whatnot.
But as for New Year Skincare Wishlist, click here.
As for non-skincare 2014 Wishlist, 10 top things! here it goes!
    • New MacBook Pro 15" with Retina Display
    • iPhone 5S
    • iPad 3 with Retina Display
    • Instax Mini 8
    • Swatch Originals Chrono Plastic: Twice Again White
    • Trip abroad during summer break. Japan or visiting relatives in South Korea.
    • Visit my best friend in Singapore.
    • To actually finish my driving lessons. I've been procrastinating due to busy schedule.
    • Read Memoirs of Geisha again.
    • Host my first giveaway for my lovelies followers and readers.

  10. If there's a product on your wishlist, and after reading many negative reviews, would you still purchase it?
Hmm, then I have to wonder how that product got into my wishlist in the first place. Whenever I want to buy beauty product, I usually will digest at least 10 reviews (for products above RM100) but I believe samples play vital roles in this matter. I would get samples first but if that's not possible, I guess I have to discard it from my wishlist then.
  11. If you could only choose one: make up or skincare?
Easy question. Skincare. :D Why makeup comes in second cause I believe makeups are meant to enhance your looks, accentuate your facial features but then skincare offers you something that benefit your skin from the deepest layer of it. With good skincare routine, I believe at some point I probably will be needing only lipsticks or lip balms.

************

My nominations are:

  1. When do you start using skincare?
  2. What is your favorite skincare brand? Why?
  3. What is the most expensive skincare product that you've used before? How was it?
  4. The most regrettable skincare product you ever bought? Why?
  5. Your opinions on makeup?
  6. What is your favourite makeup brand? Share your must-haves from this brand.
  7. Foundation or BB Cream? Share me your must-haves with us.
  8. Your most favourite makeup palettes and brush sets?
  9. Which celebrity looks inspired you the most?
  10. What's your all-time favourite show/series? Why?
  11. Top 3 places you want to go. Share with us why.

There you have it people!

Have fun tagging your fellow beauty bloggers! Remember the rules! Do drop me links to your posts cause I would love to read them. It's always interesting to know more about you guys!

xx, Mira
