Review: Laneige White Plus Renew Original Essence

Friday 13 February 2015
Finally, after I reviewed the other products from the White Plus Renew line, I arrived to the fourth product which is the Original Essence.

March last year, after finishing my previous brightening skincare line, I did some research on which skincare line to try next and after some consideration, I decided on this line. Seems that this product has won several awards from beauty magazines in South Korea, China, Thailand, Vietnam and our beloved country, Malaysia.

I also heard how this product being raved among models and makeup artists as well. The product also being coined as "Song Hye Kyo Essence".

.... but of course, I have to try the product to see how it's working with my skin. Wanna know some more? Keep on reading!
But first, let's go over some basic info about this product.

Product Description:
A natural whitening essence that brightens without stimulation.

A whitening essence with a low viscosity 4-free formula that comfortably embraces your skin and feathery-smooth suppleness to restore the naturally bright complexion.

A whitening essence that melts on skin for a cool and refreshing texture that leaves smoothness and penetrates quickly for a smooth skin texture and even skin tone.

Direction:
Pump once to apply as your regular serum every morning and evening.
Apply on your cheeks, forehead, nose, lips, and neck and gently press with your palm for penetration.

Packaging:

Like other sister product from the same White Plus Renew line, it comes in a similar white-blue box with pattern on the sides.

The design of the box is indeed simple but still look sophisticated. I bought mine from local Laneige counter here in Malaysia so the labeling is different from the ones from Korea and the ones sold in the States as well.

Can't see the list well? Okay~ here's the looong list.

Ingredients:

Water, Butylene Glycol, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Squalane, Dipropylene Glycol, Dicaprylyl Ether, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride,  Niacinamide, Silybum Marianum Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Yeast Extract, Broussonetia Kazinoki Root Extract, Ginkgo Biloba, Resveratrol, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter Extract), C14-22 Alcohols, Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Propanediol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Xanthan Gum, C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside, Glyceryl Stearate, Carbomer, Stearic Acid, Hydrogenated Lecithin,  Ethylhexylglycerin, Tromethamine, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Disodium EDTA, Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate, Methyl Methacrylate/Acrylonitrile Copolymer, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.

The product comes in that beautiful (yes, that's the word I'm gonna use), turquoise bottle with that metallic sprayed effect that goes upward. Among the items from the same White Plus Renew line, I should say that this one has the prettiest packaging.

There's the product batch number printed at the bottom and the manufacturing date. I got this on New Year for my October Laneige Reward Club. Scored a fresh 3M batch! Awesome!

A dropper is provided to dispense the product which is great to control the product amount and there's some sort of inner 'neck' that I believe is preventing spillage or at least can lessen the amount even if it did spilled.

Verdict:

The texture is milky and a bit runny and once applied on skin, it absorbed quickly and leave the skin feeling moisturised.

Final verdict:

Within 7 months, I used up one full-sized 40ml bottle and six 10ml deluxe samples along with a bottle of skin refiner, a bottle of emulsion, a jar of moisturiser and sleeping packs from the same White Plus Renew line.

As this is the one product that determine the whole effectiveness of the skincare line, so I guess this is where I'm gonna show you guys the result, right?

From left: Before using (January), after one month (end of March), and May, 2014.

July and finally, end of August, 2014.

From the photos above, you can see how my blemishes and pigmentation slowly disappeared. Within a month, there's improvement on skin tone (sorry, as the lighting is a bit different), and after 6 months, you could see my skin tone is more even compared to before using the whole line.

Simply put, this whole line is more on brightening your skin tone overall. It's harmless, unlike some local skincare products that I tried that made my skin peeled off horribly as I wanted to try to brighten up my skin tone.

The way how this skincare works is how it goes deep into skin layer and prevent the pigmentation forms from deep within skin and I can definitely vouch for that. I usually got sunburn even though I just went out under the sun without sunscreen for a bit. But throughout using this skincare, I did went out without applying sunscreen once or twice, or maybe more than that.. hehe but fortunately, I didn't experience sunburned like before. But still, do apply sunscreen all the time you spent outdoor, okay!

Though brightening or whitening skincare usually can dry out your skin, White Plus Renew line does not and moisturizes my skin instead. Even though the order of use of this product is after emulsion and before moisturizer, I sometimes use it before emulsion in the morning and be done with my skincare and proceed with makeup routine.

Overall, I'm satisfied with the whole skincare line. I think it's safe to say that this skincare line can help you in brighten up your skin tone and yes, by 2 tone up! But of course, it's not within a short period and or course, the result is different from one person to another.

As I said earlier, I used the whole skincare line for about 7 months before I finished up the whole line and right now I'm on a different skincare line that focusing on anti-aging though honestly for the past few months I'm actually trying out lots of samples, gift set as there are too many of them to go to waste. hehehe I'm about to finish them so yeah, I'll go back to this skincare line soon.

This essence is retailed at RM180 at local Laneige counter here in KL and 50,000KRW in South Korea. I bought one from Parkson and the second one is from Laneige Member Club Reward program.

I think that's all about this product. In case you're curious about anything regarding this product, feel free to ask. Maybe I haven't include everything in here.

Until next post! Annyeong~
