Beauty Favourites | January

Sunday 31 January 2016
Hello, beautiful people! How's your weekend so far? Mine's not so great as after doing some work around the house this morning, I needed to rush to the city to meet several clients and that's something I don't like doing especially when I've made plans to attend my garden... and of course, I was just taking some photos for review before the text came into my phone. Totally ruined my mood~

But still, I decided to move on with the plan even though it's almost 6 in the morning (I just got up and felt so determined to do this post as I have been planning, doing the drafts, took photos... and now I have 3 shots of coffee on hand... Let's get right into it~

First, let's go to my favourite cleansers not only for the past month but also throughout last year.

.

If you have been following me for quite some time, then you probably know that I love TheFaceShop. I tried most of their products and these trio are just one of those products that have won a special place in my heart. Haha why so dramatic? LOL

Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam is actually the first Korean cleansing foam that I've tried in my life and this in fact is the third tube I'm about to finish. It cleanses well, not drying out my skin and I still love the scent. :D

It's my first time trying these other sister products from the Rice Water Bright cleansing line so first let's talk about the Lip & Eye Remover. I should say that this can only remove non-waterproof products. As I haven't done a review on this and I don't wanna go in depth but this is still good at removing my non-waterproof eye makeups which I've been doing a lot for the past month. Just look closely at how much I used! Been practicing a lot of eye makeup that's why. This has the same scent as its other sister products which is plus to me but what I love the most about this is how it doesn't sting my eyes. Though I only tried 2 eye makeup removers in my life so I do hope I can find a better products.

Third, the Rice Cleansing Water. I read several Korean beauty articles on the best or most voted cleansing water and this one is actually one of it. It basically removes all my makeup, waterproof or not and I don't even have to use lots of it. Just one or two pump is enough. Loving it for the past month of using it and definitely will be repurchasing the one with new packaging soon.

I have to admit, I don't have any skincare favourite this month and not even the past few months as I've been using a skincare line from US for review purposes but all I can say is during the recovery time until now, these 3 products help me ushering my skin into a whole new level of improvement.

First, Skinfood Black Sugar Gold Special Edition Wash-Off Mask. This is definitely what I've been loving the past few months and as my skin is really dry right now, I've been using this only once a week as I don't want to over exfoliate. It's not harsh as the original version and rather just repurchasing the Strawberry version which has finer black sugar grains and moisturises more, I do think this product is sufficient to use as a face scrub. This is about to finish and as this mask is a limited edition hence I can't repurchase it so I probably gonna grab the Honey version next.

Second, Etude House Wonder Pore White Clay Clear Mask. I've tried the previous version which is totally different from this one as this is actually targeted for those with dry skin (which is my skin condition throughout these past few months) so I really love how it clears out all kinds impurities off my pores and still give me a little bit of moisture. Though this product is now has been discontinued (bought this at the end of 2014 even and I only opened this in November last year) I'm looking forward to try other products with similar function.

Third is Laneige Water Sleeping Pack EX. I got myself a full size I think around the end of 2014 but only recently I finally opened it and it's because of one thing only. I got too many deluxe samples where it comes in 20ml small tubs and I think I got like 4 or 5 of them as freebies from purchases made at Laneige counters in Parkson. This has been my sleeping partner for the last couple of months and I can't be more grateful as it helps with recalibration of my skin condition. It moisturizes so well and of course it's just so convenient to just cleanse, tone and slather this on. I don't know how this fare to its 2015 upgrade but I'm looking forward to finish this tub.

Now, let's go to makeup! I'll just go in order of use of products.

First, Base products!

For sunscreen (I actually think sunscreen is part of skincare), I've been loving TheFaceShop Natural Sun Eco Oil-Cut Sun Cream with SPF40. It's light weight, not greasy at all and compared to the Sebum Control version, this offers slightly more moisture. I usually just reapply every 4 to 5 hours or 3 to 4 hours outdoor when I'm without BB Cushion or just use this under my foundation and I'm good to go. No sunburn whatsoever.

As my skin felt really dried and patch all over the place, I didn't use BB Cushion most of the time and reached out for my foundation instead. Though lots of my friends are suggesting hydrating primer, frankly I don't have a budget for that at that time so I went back to using Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and though you can't really see it, I'm half-way through the bottle. The finish is a bit dewy which I like and though I have to touch up a bit every now and then, this works the best among all of my foundations which happens to be matte ones.

To set my foundation or just to touch up, I super love Bourjois Silk Edition Powder Compact. I bet some people don't like this as it doesn't come with any sponge let alone brush but I don't really mind it as I usually carry my The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Powder Foundation Brush with me. The powder gives me nice powdery finish, lasts even longer than the Bourjois Healthy Balancing Unifying Powder and just look at the 360 degree rotating lid! Love flipping it to see the mirror and placing it on top of the powder so it's easier to handle while fixing my makeup.

When it comes to makeup brush, I'm still loving my Real Technique brushes! The Expert Face Brush perfectly blends my foundation well and give me medium to full coverage that I want especially the past few months. It's soft but firm at the same time which is perfect! I usually use the Powder brush to set my makeup at home but I love it more than the Kabuki brush that I mentioned earlier so there are times when I actually pack it in my makeup pouch while travelling.

Now, colour or point makeup!

For eyebrow, I really love Maybelline Fashion Brow Duo Shaper in Grey and that's actually a repurchase as I finished the first one October last year. The grey shade is just perfect for my brow and it quite long lasting.

For eyeshadow, I've been loving my Etude House Look At My Eyes Duet in PP501 Purple Rock 'N Roll so much that the glitter one has hit pan already. I also love TheFaceShop Lovely ME:EX You & Eyes in #28 Cotton Lavender to compliment that glittery purple as base.

To make my eye shadows last even longer or just to make the colours more vivid, I apply Etude House Look At My Eyes Pearl Base all over my lid before packing the eye shadows on.

Finally for the lips, I'm obsessed with a lot of lip products but these 3 actually been worn a lot especially for Instagram shots.

I usually wear Maybelline WaterShine Lipstick in #BM31 to office as I don't wanna go with just bare lips. It's easy to apply as it just glides on my lips. It only last like few hours without eating or drinking and I usually just reapply like 2 to 3 times throughout the day.

If I'm feeling a little down and just wanna go with much bolder to make me feel more spirited, I'll go with that Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in #07 Nude-ist. The colour is so vivid, lasts really long, and survived sandwiches and coffee breaks. Super love the formula though I only love this particular shade among other available from the line. Will go to Watsons soon to see if there's any new shade being released that I don't know of and hopefully can find one more that I pull off. let me know if you have suggestion similar to its formula with this kinda shade.

Last but not least, my M.A.C Matte Lipstick in Persistence. When M.A.C bring back the Matte Lip Collection during May last year, they added 9 new shades and Persistence is one of them. I always wanted a M.A.C lipstick and as I don't want to keep on wearing NARS Anita while attending weddings, I just have to accept the fact that NARS is not available in my local shopping malls and for lipsticks I really do need to swatch on my lips before actually purchasing it, so I went over to M.A.C in Imago, KK Times Square to hunt down a matte lipstick and I found this. I also discovered Whirl but it's out of stock at that time (online as well) so I decided to go with Persistence. I'm loving it. Last long long hours even with drinking so yes, I want to get some more! :D

So that's it! My first Monthly Beauty Favourite! Hope you enjoy reading this post! Do leave comments and let me know if you want me to review any of the products if I haven't already.

Until next post, annyeong~
