Review | TheFaceShop Phytogenic Infinite EX Powder Foundation

Sunday, 17 April 2016

When I got my first foundation from Korean beauty company which is TheFaceShop, I thought I was gonna need a setting powder that goes with the foundation hence I got this together (plus a concealer that I thought might help concealing my imperfections) but turned out I was wrong.

Phytogenic EX Powder Foundation SPF20 is actually kind of similar to its sister product that I've mentioned earlier only in powdered form.

Product Description:

A lightweight powder foundation smoothes skin texture and covers up flaws while maintaining a smooth touch and natural matte finish all day long.
A long-lasting maximum coverage formula with mineral powder will not change color even through heat or humidity.

Capacity: 12g

Packaging:

If you've read my previous review, you've noticed that the packaging is in similar design to its sister product. It's in brown hues which I love. Simple fonts being used and there's English product description and ingredients list printed at the back. I think you can tell that this makeup item is purely for foreigners customers like us as there's no Hangul printed on it.

I got mine in NB25 i.e. Natural Beige 25. Similar to the liquid foundation, the shade really does suits my medium skin.

The powder foundation is housed within that nice and sleek compact case with dark metallic brown lid and soft brown bottom container. It comes with a regular powder puff for a quick touch-up.

Like other powder pacts released by the brand, this product too comes with a middle transparent lid that separates the puff and the powder itself. Truly great solution to avoid absorbed sebum on the puff being transferred to the powder while being kept together.

Verdict:

Left: bare face. Right: Product applied.

When it comes to product claims, you can see that it does covers my skin well and look at the redness I have on my cheek. They're gone! My pores are slightly blurred and I can tell the texture does improved a little bit and that's on the first application. After few hours, I still can tell there's powder on my face though other powders usually already disappeared at that point. This does helps with the shine on my T-zone but I still need to blot from time to time.

As this is a powder foundation, I applied it onto my face by using a powder brush (of course, kabuki brush works too) also from the brand. Using circular motion, the brush helps with spreading the powder evenly.

When I'm using the liquid foundation, I usually set the base with a setting (translucent) powder as when I used this powder to set my makeup, my base seems so heavy and I honestly don't really like the thick finish. But when I see my foundation started to break and I'm too lazy to redo my makeup, I use this powder foundation to touch up my base and it'll go back to the state when I first applied my foundation.

On days when I don't use liquid foundation, I use this powder foundation on top of my sebum-controlling sunscreen and it's really nice as compared to using my regular drugstore powder pacts, I don't have to keep on touching up to maintain its coverage.

Final verdict: 4/5. I love the coverage, the finishing and the long-lastingness. It's not getting full mark as I was hoping the company would move onto a better preservative other than paraben.

I guess that's all I want to share with you guys about this product. Do let me know if you've tried similar product or any thought by leaving comments down below.
