Beauty Empties | March

Sunday, 30 March 2014

Lovelies, annyeong! How was your weekend? I'm really tired since yesterday as I've been non-stop going to many places since last Friday. Running errands, shopping, visiting relatives and whatnot.

Anyway, today is going to be a quick post as I still need to prepare for my presentation on Monday. T__T

Here are the items that I finished from the past few months. Like the previous empties posts, I'm going to tell whether the first impressions of these items last and whether I'm going to repurchase them or not.

For cleansing items, I finished Etude House Happy Fresh Foam in White Clay and Skinfood Black Sugar Scrub Foam. Both these cleansers are great as the former one smells like baby powder which I love and works great with my skin and as for the cleanser from Skinfood, it works great as a scrub with the grains in the foam. But as I love trying new cleansers (plus I still have another tube of the Etude House cleanser), I don't think I will be repurchasing these two again.

Review: TheFaceShop Herb Day Cleansing Cream in Green Tea

Sunday, 23 March 2014

Annyeong! How are you guys these days? It's been really hot here in Malaysia. ah~ I'm saying as if I'm from somewhere else, but indeed where I came from is less hot compared to this city of Kuala Lumpur.

Anyway, in request of a friend, today I'm going to do a quick review on this cleansing cream that I got from TheFaceShop about 5 months ago, which is the Herb Day Cleansing Cream in Green Tea variant.

The design of the illustration is pretty simple, right?

Review: Skinfood Black Sugar Strawberry Wash-Off Mask

Saturday, 22 March 2014

Annyeong! How was your week so far? It's been really exhausting these days as it's examination week before we're gonna enjoy mid semester break next week. :)

Anyway, if you remember my December Haul, you guys probably knew that I got this interesting Black Sugar Strawberry Wash-Off Mask from the Christmas Set that includes the Black Sugar Perfect First Serum that I reviewed previously.

Like the Skinfood best seller product, Black Sugar Wash-Off Mask, or most of the wash-off masks from Skinfood, this one too comes in white-capped, almost transparent tub.

Review: Etude House Moonlight in Spoon: Blending Sleeping Cream in Rosehip

Friday, 21 March 2014

Annyeong! Ah~ These days I can feel that my skin is slightly under the weather. huh? Is that the word? Well, with the stress and whatnot.. Sigh~

With that, I decided to go through my stashes of products in my drawer and looked for this! hehe~

Moonlight in Spoon Blending Sleeping Cream in Rose Hip from Etude House.
Whoa~ that was mouthful.. I think this is one product that has the longest name!

Anyway, this one is for 'Bright and Moist'. Definitely something that I need as I kinda feel my skin is a bit dry these days. :)

As you guys can see the above photo, there's illustration of the rose hip.
Wanna see a real one?

If you're a big fan of Victoria Secret Angel's Miranda Kerr, I bet you heard she mentioned about how she used Rose Hip oil to achieve that glowing complexion. It's actually been in practice since ancient time (I read somewhere it was during the time of Egyptian, even Mayans) that they've been using Rose Hip oil for healing purposes.

Product Description:
This is a Blending Sleeping Cream containing Rose hip extract (Rosa Canina Flower Oil), Lavender, Chamomile, and Mint.
'Blend together Sleeping Cream' is a (mix of) golden herb water-gel and rich nourishing cream (that contain ingredients that can) moisturise skin overnight for a lucid, bright moonlight-like complexion.

There's the manufacturing date. Be sure to check before buying.

There's also illustration on how to use the product. Ah, totally cute! :)

Basically, what you need to do in order to use the product is to take out the spoon inside and as shown below, be careful while tearing the plastic cover because you might spill the product inside.

Break the handle part and use it to blend in the transparent gel. To my understanding, the gel is the one that's provide moisture while the coloured gel is the one that contained the extracts.

Blend well, as you can see here the rose-coloured gel has became less pinkish, which also means you can start applying it on your skin.

Do remember not to apply using the spoon, as it's quite sharp.

Texture and Scent:
The texture, as expected is creamy and I have to say that I was expecting it to be absorbed quickly but it just didn't. So the the consistency is quite heavy or thick as I need to wait for about 20 minutes to half an hour before it absorbed into my skin. As it's said that this is a sleeping cream, I guess it's natural for it to be slightly thicker than my usual sleeping mask that I'm using.

The scent is lovely, I have to be honest. Well, apart from loving anything that has sakura in it, I also love rose-scented items so this sleeping cream, as it's rose-kinda-scented, I love it. Indeed, as it contains chamomile, the scent is soothing me, helped me relaxed a bit.

The amount of product which is 6g is a lot for me but to my knowledge, I have to use the whole thing, or if you guys have fridge, I think it's better to use half portion of the product. Well, the usual amount of product for sleeping mask is 3 to 4g anyway. Even better, just share with your roommate! :)

This is a sleeping cream or mask I should say so just leave it on and continue with washing it off the next morning.

Final verdict: 4.5/5. I absolutely love this variant. if you need a quick fix, put this on for about 5 to 6 hours while sleeping before going on with daily activities is enough to rejuvenate your skin and give you the healthy glow that you want. Though the effect is temporary. But then again, who knows what this product could do if you integrate it into your skincare routine? :) So yeah, if I need extra treatment for my skin, this is one of the things that I'll go for.

Why not full score? Because it's quite pricey. RM9.90 per item is expensive if you ask me. Which is why I guess I'm going to opt for the ones in jar instead of this. But for travelling purposes, or for girls' slumber party, this is great.

Will I repurchase? Absolutely.

I guess that's about it. I hope this review can help you decide whether to get this or not. Or.. if you want need extra info on this product. :)

Tell me if you have tried it, are you gonna repurchase it? What's your favourite sleeping mask? Do share.

Until next post, au revoir!

Malaysia Grand Prix Promotion!

Thursday, 20 March 2014

Hello, lovelies! How are you guys today?

If you're residing in Malaysia, then you should know that the Grand Prix is here and not only one of the most anticipated event is happening but to go with that stores around KL is having promotions and sales especially with a lot of people coming here from around the world.

What can I see from the updates from Facebook, even Korean beauty stores are competing by releasing their promotion posters one after another. So, in case you're deciding on what to splurge or just want to stock up your skincare essentials, let's see what are these beauty stores offering you.

First, let's go to Etude House!

Wow! & Rose Flowering Eyes at mere RM39.90? Now that sounds great to those of you who've been wanting to get it since last year!

I never tried the I Need You, Everyday! Sleeping Pack before. It has the same variants as the mask sheets. Those Missing You hand cream series are so cute!

Next, let's go to Skinfood!

If you don't already know about the above promo.. :)

This was posted today. As you may already know, Skinfood Malaysia rarely give out promotion so honestly, I don't think this promo is interesting compared to other stores'. Ah, I still remember the Christmas promo though. :) If you haven't sign up their Loyalty Programme, do so! I just redeemed a wash-off mask and definitely will be continuing collecting Angel stamps for that. :)

Next, let's go to Nature Republic!

If you love mask sheets then this is definitely a must-go! :) But one thing about I don't really like about NR Malaysia is whenever they give out promotion, you don't really know which item on promo. So what you need to do is to visit their store and then find out. I honestly haven't redeem anything from my past purchases (talk about their membership programme) so when it comes to customer satisfaction, I think I'll give 3.5/5.
if I were to compare the prices between here and South Korea, I think NR has the highest differences compared to other stores (that I've been to). For example, the Whitening Collagen Dream skincare line, one product is sold around RM130 while it's being sold for about RM55 online or in Korea. But yeah... only with these kind of promos (Gift With Purchase) that can make me considering buying from them.

Now, let's go to TheFaceShop!

As a loyal customer of this store, I have to say I'm a little bit disappointed with this promo. :(
Why? Because with that amount of purchase I think it's better to give out deluxe samples, or full-sized products as GWPs. I'm saying this because I already went and got myself those freebies. Sigh.
But yeah, there are lots of items on 10%+5% (member) discount while some make-up items on 20% to 50% discount. But like I said, with the amount of purchase above, I didn't really got myself a lot of stuffs this time.

So yeah, that's about the GP sales for Korean beauty stores. So, you can start planning your purchases and stock up items you love!

Dear ladies, happy shopping!

Love, Mira.

Laneige Malaysia March Promotion

Wednesday, 19 March 2014

Hello, lovelies! How are you today? Weekend is approaching and I'm so excited as next week is gonna be holiday! I think the same goes to all schools and uni in Malaysia! With the Grand Prix next week, KL is definitely gonna get busier more crowded with people coming from all over the place! :)

Anyway, this post was supposed to be included with the next post but I wanted to separate this one as I'm going to update it later on.

To start with, I want to ask, any of you is a Laneige fan?

If you're into brightening products like me, sure you already know about the arrival of the new products in the White Plus Renew skincare line.
By the way, have you sign up for the Brighten Up Campaign? Click here if you haven't. They are giving out samples for the most important product from the line which is the Original Essence

One of the most anticipated product from the brand is here! As I've been wanting to try this BB Cushion since last year (despite the bad experience I had during that time) but like I said before, I'm gonna wait till January or February this year to purchase it. But when I went to Parkson Suria KLCC to get it, they said it's better for me to wait a little bit more as this new version was coming. Well, knowing that was nice.

So yeah, to those of you want to try the famous, I think the world's first new version of BB Cushion, do check this out at the nearest counter or the boutique at Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall as they're having 10% discount on all items with normal prices or you can buy the White Plus Renew 5-piece Trial Kit (new version with Original Essence, Original Cream minis and one piece of Capsule Sleeping Pack) at RM119 a reasonable price as I calculated the value of the product per ml and it was indeed around RM116 to RM119.

As for the counters at AEON, starting this Saturday they're going to give RM10 voucher with every purchase of RM100 but if you spent more than RM350, they're giving out RM50 voucher plus the new White Plus Renew 5-piece Trial Kit OR Basic (Refreshing or Moisture) & Water Bank 5-piece Trial Kit.

A friend of mine told me that Laneige counter in SOGO, KL still have the bag if you missed the Valentine's promotion last month. I'm not sure about the Satin Brush Kit though.

Update on March 22nd, 2014: I went to SOGO today and really find out what's the promotion at the counter. I was so happy to find out that they were selling the Trial Set (or Travel Set I should say) for White Plus Renew skincare line, the difference with the Trial Kit (the ones that they give out for free if you buy RM350 above) is the amount of product in each of the item. If the Trial Set worth RM116, the Travel Set worth around RM280 but it's sold at only RM119.

If you don't know already, in conjunction with their 20th anniversary, every month on 20th, Laneige is having promotion on their best seller items for example last month's promo was Water Bank Essence at RM140 (normal price is at RM165) and for this month's promo, their Firming Sleeping Pack.

Update on 24th March: OMG! I just found that Laneige is having an event i.e. Brighten Up 123 Promo @ LG2 West Wing Sunway Pyramid from now till 30 March 2014!!

Check it out!! :)

So yeah, I guess that's all for today. I'll be sure to update later on.

Love, Mira

Review: Etude House Wonder Pore Freshener

Saturday, 15 March 2014

Annyeonghaseyo! and since I've been noticing some visitors from Japan, Irrashaimase! :D

This week have been very intense as I had critique session yesterday so this weekend is all about healing whatever has been broken (, I broke few things at studio LOL) and of course time to give myself some facial treatment.. hehe

Anyway, today I'm going to review about a toner that I've been using for the past few months which is this Wonder Pore Freshener from Etude House!

I bought this together with the Wonder Pore Cotton Glove. :)

First, let's talk about the famous Freshener. :) It claims 7 in 1 total pore solution.
      1. Maintain pH 4.5 (optimum)
      2. Refine skin tone.
      3. keep the elasticity of pores.
      4. Deep cleanses pores.
      5. Minimise appearance of pores
      6. Control large amount of sebum
      7. Moisturise inside and and outside of skin.

Product Description:
This product is a total solution for pore care, preventing enlarged pores, less firmer skin and skin troubles by eliminating what hurts skin from within.

How to use:
Soak the cotton pad with the freshener and wipe your face from the centre of your face to the outside.
With gentle patting, let the skin absorb the leftover Freshener.
You can carry the Freshener in a mist type container and apply onto your skin when there is too much sebum or you have itchy feeling.

Vol.: 500ml

Use within 12 months after opening and right after dispensed from the bottle.

I like the fact that Etude House opted for Phenoxythanol (hopefully in low amount) as preservative. The product also contains rice bran extract and lemon fruit extract that I believe can help refining and refreshing skin tone, also there's Hyaluronic Acid that can help with keeping our skin's elasticity healthy.

As you can see in the above photos, the product comes in a blue box that have the same illustrations as its sister products. The plastic box is definitely sturdy that can protect the product throughout the time it's being shipped or just stored in the shop.

From the illustrations, I guess we can conclude that it's trying to portray your pore problems and how this product can help you.

Illustrated above is how you can use the product not only as toner but also freshener i.e Facial mist.

That's basically the huge bottle. I believe this product also comes in 250ml, but of course that size is lacking one thing.

That lacking thing is indeed this amazing pump. Usually can be seen in beauty salons, this time it's used to dispense the product out of its bottle. Just pushed down carefully with your cotton pad.

Note that the manufacturing date is printed on the bottom of the bottle.

Now, let's talk about the Wonder Pore Cotton Glove. It's a glove type double-sided pad that can be used in place of cotton pad, effectively cleanses and smoothing out pores when used with Wonder Pore Freshener.

On the left, the dotted side is the side that you can used to exfoliate the dead skin cells while on the right is the after you exfoliate, tap that side of the pad on your skin and let your skin to absorb the remained product.

You can put your fingers inside the cotton pads and swipe your skin carefully. Do note NOT to use the dotted side of the pad harshly on your skin. it might skin. Exfoliate carefully. :)

That's how the toner looks like. Looks ordinary isn't it?

What I can say about this product that it's very generous (with that amount of 500ml!!) and very effective! This toner really helps with my T-zone compared to my previous toners.
When it comes to my enlarged pores, I don't believe it can help with my enlarged pores but at least it can minimise the appearance of it. My skin appears to be smoother and refined to before.
What I can tell is how effective the product is based on its ingredients. So, like I said above, in a nutshell, this product totally liven up to its claim.
I guess the reason for this product to be so huge in its size because we can use it both as toners and facial mists. So, yeah it's really beneficial to both to my skin and budget.
The probable downside of this product is probably it's hard to travel with but it's fine for me as I have lots of containers I can use for travel and whatnot.

Three things on the side of my backpack! :D

Final verdict: 5/5. Though this product looks ordinary, I believe it's a very good product and of course, I will repurchase this. :D

In fact....

I bought 2 during a Buy 1 Free 1 sale (retailed at RM89.90) sale and another 1 included in Christmas Set (RM169.90) during my December Haul.

What do you think of this product? Have you ever tried this? Do tell your opinions and drop comments below.

That's all for today. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, yeah?

Until next post, annyeong!
